Fall Newsletter 2017

New Toys and New Faces

Newsletter Header fall 2017

It’s been a fun and productive time here on 2nd Ave, filled with growth and learning. Many of you have noticed I have some colleagues sharing my space these days. You can read about Kirstin & Denise on the sidebar, and follow the links to their websites to learn more about them. I can’t tell you how nice it is to have all the good energy these ladies and their practices (and their pooches!) haul up the stairs with them every day.

New TableSo about those toys. The most recent addition is a state of the art Comfort Craft table, and it’s got BUTTONS!!! I’ve invested in this piece of equipment for my clients’ comfort and benefit, as well as to reduce the strain on own body and hopefully make it so I can continue offering this work for years and years to come. Its ergonomic features include a mid-split bend, which helps to open the low back when laying face-down and facilitates side-lying work, and an adjustable sliding face cradle to reduce pressure on the neck and face – no more indents across the forehead after sessions. For me (and my back!), the cut-outs allow me step in close to the body, and of course I can smoothly raise or lower it to the optimal height throughout each session.

Also sporting some buttons (but alas, no power cord) is the BASI Systems Arm Chair Barrel Set, added to the studio earlier this year. It offers a nice range of variations with adjustable spring hooks coming from various angles to help stimulate and challenge the body. While a sidebend is a sidebend is a sidebend….the version on the Ladder Barrel feels quite different from all the various Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Spine Corrector and Mat versions.
More options = more fun!

Looking forward to seeing everybody throughout the coming months. Be sure to watch the studio tiger for help keeping track of the seasons and holidays. He’s currently still in his low budget Direwolf costume, just because he loves Game of Thrones that much, but he’ll find a new outfit soon.
